Award Ceremony of the “Photovoice Contest on Forest Protection” and the “Little Voices of the Forest” Exhibition – Spreading environmental protection messages through children’s perspectives in A Luoi

On March 28, 2026, at the Party Committee Hall of A Luoi 2 Commune, Hue City, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations of Hue City (VUFO Hue), in collaboration with the Center for Knowledge Co-creation and Development Research (CKC), organized the award ceremony for the “Photovoice Contest on Forest Protection” and launched the “Little Voices of the Forest” photo exhibition.

The ceremony marked the conclusion of the “Photovoice Contest on Forest Protection,” implemented from January to March 2026, with the participation of 75 students and 9 teachers from three primary schools: Hong Van (A Luoi 1), Nham (A Luoi 2), and Hong Thai (A Luoi 3). The ceremony honored 60 outstanding works selected for the exhibition and recognized six winning works. The first prize was awarded to the Cay Coi Team from Hong Van Primary School for their work “Green Seedlings Protecting the Forest.”

At the ceremony, representatives of the participating schools emphasized the important role of experiential education and artistic expression in raising environmental awareness, especially among the younger generation. The contest was highlighted as a meaningful and innovative educational activity that equips students with knowledge and skills that can be further applied in schools in the future.

Following the award ceremony, the “Little Voices of the Forest” Exhibition Week is open from March 28 to April 3, 2026, at three primary schools: Hong Van, Nham, and Hong Thai. The exhibition is free of charge, providing students, teachers, parents, and local residents with opportunities to engage with the authentic and creative perspectives of ethnic minority students on forests and environmental protection.

The selected artworks will be curated and featured in the photo book “Little Voices of the Forest,” conveying powerful messages about forest conservation and sustainable development.

These activities are part of the Environmental Awareness Component of the “Socio-Ecological Transformation for Ethnic Minority Women through Creating Sustainable Livelihoods in A Luoi” project (SODI – A Luoi Project). Running from 2025 to 2029, the project is funded by Solidaritätsdienst-international e.V. (SODI) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and is managed and implemented by VUFO Hue.
